Our Salient Features

1. Academic Policy
  • The student is expected to fully respect the school's endeavor to promote integrity and ethical behavior on all fronts.
  • Any attempt/inclination to cheat, lie, distort or manipulate will be dealt with severity by the school.
  • The Syllabus in all subjects (for Classes I-VIII) is divided into two independent terms. Basic conceptual portion of the syllabus is carried forward to the 2nd Term Examination. The entire syllabus is assessed in the year-end examination for classes IX to XII.
  • Periodic tests are held in all subjects for all classes according to the schedule.
  • Grades are given in different areas of learning in Work Education, Health and Physical Education, Visual and Performing arts and Discipline.
  • All work assigned by the school i.e. Homework/Assignments/Projects/any other must be sincerely and diligently attempted by the student and not passed on to any external agency / individuals for completion. Any evidence to this effect will be perceived as a violation of academic honesty.
  • While attempting the assigned work, full credit must be given for ideas, language or creative design if borrowed from any source. Students are encouraged to understand the keywords / concept and attempt re-writing the material in their own language.
  • Extracurricular classes and Reinforcement teaching classes are organized for students requiring special attention.
2. Leave Rules
  • In the light of each day at school being unique and incapable of being replicated again, we urge parents to ensure that their wards are present every day. We expect students to be conscientious about daily attendance too.
  • 75% minimum attendance is mandatory to appear for Half-Yearly and Annual Examinations.
  • The class teacher must be notified through the leave record section of the school almanac, in case of illness or non-attendance of school.
  • Any leave on health grounds must be supported by a medical certificate. The school reserves the right to verify the validity of the certificate.
  • For leave exceeding a day, HoS’ prior permission is mandatory.
  • No ‘after-test leave’ is allowed on the weekly test day for any reason. In case of a truly unavoidable reason, the HoS’s permission is mandatory.
  • In case of any infectious or contagious disease, we advise quarantine till full recovery. The student will be required to produce a medical fitness certificate to rejoin school.
  • No student will be allowed to leave the school on his / her own for any reason. The school is committed to ensuring safety of students with co-operation of both students and parents.
3. Conduct and Discipline Policy
  • Proper school uniform must be worn daily. Parents are expected to make sure that their wards are in proper uniform, as per the school specifications.
  • All items of apparel must be clean and well ironed; footwear must be regularly polished.
  • No shoes of any other colour or kind are permissible.
  • All boys must have their hair trimmed regularly; side-burns and long hair in the nape are not allowed. Funky haircuts are not permitted. Low waist pencil pants will not be treated as uniform. Students are not permitted to wear golden/silver/diamond ornaments, friendship bands, fancy spectacle frames or watches.
  • Parents must ensure that their wards wear only white inner wear. (girls - white slips and tights and boys - white vests and briefs).
  • Girls are not permitted to use colored ribbons, clips or hair band, make-up, lipsticks, nail polish, eye liner or kajal. Girls with long hair should have their hair plaited and tied. Short hair should be neatly cut and pinned. Kindly note that streaks/highlights/fancy hair styles are strictly not allowed.
  • Students who do not comply with the regulations are liable to be penalized and may be sent back home, on repeated defiance.
  • The school belt and I-card are to be worn every day.
4. REGULATIONS
DISCIPLINARY MEASURES

Discipline plays an important role in building a nation and is essential in all walks of life. It is of utmost importance in a student's life. A student must obey his/her teachers, abide by the school rules and be respectful towards all. It has been the constant endeavour of the school to impart values, instill discipline and inculcate good habits in the students. Hence, in order to enforce discipline in the students, the school will take action against the defaulters or students who flout the regulations and norms of conduct, as laid down by the school.

A Yellow Card will be issued by the Discipline Committee.
The yellow card will be issued on the following grounds:
  • Missing classes (bunking), Assembly, SUPW, Library, PE etc.
  • Inappropriate behaviour in or outside school premises.
  • Cheating during any test or examination.
  • Damaging school property.
  • Bringing objectionable items to school.
  • Any other act of indiscipline as deemed by the Discipline Committee.
Note:
  • Any student against whom disciplinary action has been taken will not be eligible for School trips or activities.
  • Any incident beyond the rules of school will directly call for suspension and the school reserves the right to take such action without any advance notice.
  • Kindly note that the school does not endorse or support any party/get together of students which is not age appropriate or is held outside the school premises. The school is liable to take strict action against those who use the school's name for such events/collection of funds or any financial transaction.
5. Examination/Assessment
“Wisdom- comes not from AGE, But from Education and Learning"
  • No unfair means should be used by a student during examinations. In case a student is found using any unfair means, strict disciplinary action will be taken against the student.
  • It is mandatory for each student to give all Pen-and-Paper and Non Pen-and-Paper Tests/Exams/Assessment conducted by the school.
  • In case of sickness, the student should not report to school for appearing for Tests/Examinations. The student is required to submit a Medical Certificate from a registered medical practitioner, failing which grades will not be awarded.
  • If the child is representing the school for any event/competition, he/she would be allowed to give a retest only with the prior permission of the HoS.
  • There is NO RETEST policy in the school as it is mandatory for all students to appear in all tests, examinations etc. However, in case of any major emergency or unforeseen circumstances, the parent can submit an application along with supporting documents to the HoS. The HoS reserves the right to take decision in any retest request. The HoS decision shall be final in any retest case. However, if the student fails to report on the day of retest, NO RE-RETEST would be further conducted. The percentage will be calculated by awarding a zero to the subject.
  • Leave for religious ceremonies or special occasions must be obtained beforehand. However, no average marks will be given if one avails leave of this nature.
  • As per the C.B.S.E. rules, students studying in classes IX-XII need to have a minimum 75% attendance.
6. Conduct and Discipline
  • Every student must possess the identity card issued by the school. This card is renewed every year.
  • No student will be allowed to leave the school campus during school hours, without proper authorization.
  • Frequent visits to washroom or any habitual movement from the class after every interval should be avoided. No student should be outside the classroom without an out pass.
  • The School does not permit the celebration of birthdays or festivals on the school campus. Parents are advised not to send sweets, gifts etc for celebration of birthdays Birthday bumps are a punishable offence..
  • Students with allotted responsibilities like Members of School Council, should be role models in their overall conduct and wear their respective badges daily. If any member of the School Council is found guilty of misconduct or inappropriate behaviour, he/she will not be deemed fit to wear the badge which is a symbol of honour and will have to surrender it.
  • Use of tobacco or any such substance is strictly prohibited. Any such practice will lead directly to suspension from the school.
  • Expensive and fancy electronic gadgets (cell phones, smart watches, calculators, music devices, tablets etc.) must not be brought to school.
  • Care must be taken of all school property. Students must use the school property by not resorting to practices that spoil and tarnish the image of being a Happian. A fine will be imposed for any damage caused by a student.
  • A written apology will be demanded by the school authorities in case of willful breach of discipline, both from the pupil as well as the parent.
  • No books, periodicals, comics, newspaper or printed matter of objectionable nature, should be brought into the school. The school authorities have the right to search the bags.
7. Recommendations for Parents/Guardians

Parental encouragement and support for learning activities at home combined with parental involvement in schooling is critical to children's education. The support and collaboration of parents is, in all cases considered indispensable for the success of the scholastic & co-scholastic plan of the school. Parents' positive co-operation with the school is absolutely essential for the constructive upbringing of their ward. Hence, they are requested to make the teaching learning process more fruitful by:

  • Urging their wards to be regular and punctual to school.
  • Checking the school almanac on a regular basis.
  • Frequent visits to washroom or any habitual movement from the class after every interval should be avoided. No student should be outside the classroom without an out pass.
  • Ensuring that their wards are diligent and regular in completing their assignments, homework and lessons.
  • Helping their wards to make and implement a study time table and thereby create a positive environment where the child can study independently.
  • Encouraging their children to take active part in classroom discussions, doubt solving and submission of assignments/projects and not to be a defaulter.
  • Insisting on neatness and cleanliness in their text books, exercise books and personal appearance. There should be a name tag on blazers and sweaters.
  • Instilling the habit of sending home-made food in their lunch boxes.
  • Parents must ensure that their ward wears the Identity Card on him/her. All details are to be mentioned clearly. Change in address or phone number is to be informed officially at the school office. Any medical problem faced by your ward should be informed to the class teacher in writing at the beginning of the session and also entered in the medical record given in the almanac.
  • Any appointment with the HoS must be made in advance. Parents should meet the school authorities by seeking a prior appointment.
  • 1 Parents can meet the teachers with prior appointment only. Kindly seek a prior appointment with the concerned teacher through ERP. Please do adhere to the time allotted for the meeting.
  • 1Please note that no student may be taken home during school hours unless there is an emergency. In such a case, the class teacher/HoS may be contacted for permission.
  • 1Parents are requested to be personally present in all the Parent Teacher meetings, interact with the teachers, take the feedback in a constructive manner and work on suggestions recommended by teachers. They should also adhere to the timings specified for the PTMs.
  • 1The school almanac is a very important document. All communication and important instructions are sent to the parents either through the almanac or on the ERP. Therefore, it is mandatory for the students to carry the almanac daily to school and keep it safely.
  • 1All children share the right to say ‘NO’ to any touch that makes them uncomfortable and to seek help from trusted adults.
  • 1No child will be allowed to go home on his own. One of the parents should come to collect the child.
  • 1Though the school takes good care of all the students while they are in school, the school cannot be held responsible for any self inflicted or accidental mishap/injury, physical or otherwise, that may befall them.
  • 1The school contact number should be used in case of emergency/enquiry. Parents are requested to respect the privacy of the teaching faculty and administrative staff and abstain from causing any disturbance through telephonic calls/house visits for any official purpose.
8. Anti-bullying norms

Bullying lowers self-esteem, interferes with everyone's right to be respected, to learn and to be/feel safe. Hence HAPPY SCHOOL has zero tolerance to bullying, physical or mental, in cyber space or otherwise, and obscenity or sexual offences by anyone in school.

The term Bullying implies any of the following:
  • Physical and verbal attacks, including repetitive teasing, harsh comments and slander.
  • Violence and physical aggression leading to hurt or intimidation especially against junior students, by forcibly taking their belongings, food etc.
  • All direct or indirect remarks of obscene or sexual nature against the other gender. All students are expected to be gender sensitive & tolerant towards each other.
  • All acts of discrimination leading to lowered self-esteem.
  • The destruction of someone's material possessions.
  • Cyber bullying and online humiliation by posting or subscribing to posts offensive to another.
  • Inappropriate phone calls, e-mails, messages, use of photographs and other media sources involving the victim.
  • Public Display of Affection, sharing objectionable material, carrying obscene material to school, including digital material on phone devices, even if not shown to others, is a serious violation of school norms. It will be dealt with strictly and might lead to rustication from school.
  • Carrying phones or other digital devices, which is in contravention of explicit school norms is a serious offence and will invite disciplinary action.
  • Parents must check the social media to ensure non-involvement of their wards in any form of cyber bulling.
  • Counselling is an essential part of the school system, and it is the responsibility of the parents to counsel their children and give consent that the child may be counselled in the school, whenever that is required.
  • Most importantly, since bullying includes all actions leading to humiliation, lowered self-esteem, fear, physical or mental torture and peril to the individual, hence every incident has to be brought to the notice of the school authorities. Incidents of bullying will thus involve strict action and may attract rustication.
    It is a collective responsibility of the students, teachers and parents to maintain a ‘bullying free environment’ and promote an atmosphere that respects diversity and originality by encouraging positive speech and action and working together to resolve any bullying incident that might occur.
9. Anger-free school

"Anger is one letter short of DANGER."

The term Bullying implies any of the following:

  • All of us will agree that a learning abode like a school must be devoid of any kind of negativity so that we can contribute and make the world a better place for our children, by infusing positivity in everything around them.
  • Anger is detrimental to fitness. Therefore, as per the guidelines of the Central Board of Secondary Education, HAPPY SCHOOL urges all its stake holders to make efforts to convert the school into an Anger - Free Zone.
  • In this Anger -Free Zone, everyone will try to manage his/her anger, whether it is the Parents, School personnel or other stakeholders.
  • The best way to teach children the value of 'freedom from anger', is by setting examples ourselves.
  • Making the school Anger-Free will help our students in developing effective life skills and in overcoming emotions like fear, disrespect, humiliation and hurt, which are the by- products of anger.
  • This will enable our children to become emotionally strong and healthy.
  • We are sure that all our stakeholders will make this little effort to make the school become an Anger-Free Zone and make our children happy, joyous and active learners, ready to face the future with a smile on their lips and a spring in their steps!
    The school has an excellent counselling facility and the students are counselled to promote anger free zone from time to time.
10. Late Arrival in School

  • Late arrival at school is a breach of discipline. A student who comes late to school, must enter the date and time of arrival in the 'Record of Late Coming to School’ given in the almanac at the entrance gate and only then will the student be allowed to enter the school premises subsequently.
  • Three late arrivals in a month will result in a call to the parents. Subsequent late arrivals will invoke a yellow card or any other suitable action from the school.
11. School Leaving or Withdrawals

" Punctuality is not about being on time, it is about respecting your own commitments."

  • Absenteeism of the child will not be considered as his/her withdrawal. At least one-month notice in writing is mandatory for withdrawal formalities.
  • Absenteeism without intimation will be treated as per DOE rules for striking off the name.
  • After the beginning of academic session, if the parent wishes to withdraw, one clear calendar months' notice has to be given in writing and the parent has to pay payable dues.
  • The issuing of Transfer Certificate depends on clearance from the Accounts, Library and Academics Departments.
  • Students can be asked to leave the school in case of any act of indiscipline or highly unsatisfactory progress in academics.
  • A student who fails twice in the same class will not be permitted to continue his/her studies in the school.
  • Students who leave school in April/May must pay the fee for the full quarter.
  • The decision of HOS will be the final in all cases of withdrawal or striking off the name of a student.
Fee once paid is non-refundable and non-transferable.
